Why 3 in every 10 Manx drivers are idiots!

I have been running too and from work lately, partly to keep fit, lose weight and save a bit of cash. Yes that’s me!.
I have been really enjoying it, but something really gets to me.
My route takes me up and down Richmond Hill and I am sure every local would agree that the road is not ideal. What really gets me is on the way home about 5.20pm – 5.30pm the amount of drivers that are absolutely flooring it up there on the “dual carriageway” / overtaking lane like complete arseholes to only get one or two cars ahead of the queue. Bearing in mind that it is probably the only place you can overtake on your route south (well at that time of day anyway) I reckon that would lesson your journey time by about 15 seconds! Wow that was really worth it wasn’t it!
The thing is the number of people who do this is pretty staggering, well I think so anyway. I have been doing a rough count to distract me from the fatigue and I reckon it is roughly three cars for every ten. And just to please all you motorbike riders, you are pure angels, believe me!
Sort it out people. I am quite happy for you idiots to kill yourselves, just don’t get me or any other driver at the same time!
And I think I have been quite restrained writing this so consider yourselves lucky. You know who you are!

I agree!
I cycle or walk to work from Governers Hill down Woodbourne Road/Bucks Road. I have seen:
* People parking by a school on double yellow lines – with and without their invisibility cloak (that is their hazard lights if you’re not familiar with this device)
* People pulling out right in front of me – apparently cyclists are not traffic (It’s okay though, he gave me an apologetic wave)
* People not indicating – ALL THE TIME
* One guy driving down the WRONG WAY on the road – no, actually, it wasn’t on the road it was ON THE PAVEMENT.
* Audi TT driver overtook me while cycling down a 30mph road at high speed TEXTING
* Countless people talking on phones
I am learning to drive at the moment, and everyone (my driving instructor included) seem to accept that it is okay. I, on the other hand, have to revise, wrack my nerves and go through a test to prove my skills – when I know most drivers out there cares only about getting home for their tea.
Tell me one reason why I shouldn’t cut my driving license up if I get it. The standard “I have my license” is ridiculous.
How to resolve this:
* All drivers have are reassedd every 5 years – a much lighter test required, but it rules out bad habits
* All vehicles have black boxes installed. This will help drive down insurance costs, and will also prove useful in accident nvestigations/policing road law
* MORE policemen able to identify and react to violations
* And yes, more traffic cameras – but in useful places and in addition to sensible measures such as 20mph “Home Zones”, traffic calming and intelligent road design.
F**kwits, the lot of them.
